Finally made out to this Pizza Port location and it exceeded my expectations

This beer poured into a pint glass was golden yellow with a miniscule silky head

No real smell and the taste was pretty average as far as pale ales go, not much to it, almost like a blonde

Not very hoppy for an APA, but very drinkable and very light

Poured a bright yellow with tons of tiny bubbles giving a nice half finger head even from the tap that melted to a very sticky ring.
Scents of super fresh floral hops are the first thing you notice.
Mouth is filled immediately with a crisp spash of grapefruit hops and just enough sweet malt to balance, yet leave the mouth very clean and refreshed on the swallow.
One of the very best and freshest tasting APA's I've ever had and would honestly be the signature IPA at most anyother brewpub.

Named after the southbound 5 freeway off-ramp taken to get to Port Clemente, this APA would most likely qualify as an IPA in most brewpubs.

Pours an orange body with minimal foam...but leaves a nice collar of lace nonetheless.

Nose is spicy grapefruit with Port Brewing signature house yeast.

Entry is fairly quiet with a full-bodied mouthfeel approaching a four on the chewiness scale. Midtaste shows a stiff crystal malt backbone prior to the resurfacing of the citrusy (still grapefruit!) hops. The finish is more piny than the citrus-laden mid...and a provider of excellent hop-burps.
