Nice brew from Pizza Port. It pour a near black color with a light brown head. The nose has roasted malts, molasses and a good amount of chocolate and espresso. Same goes for the taste. Lots of sweet chocolate malts balanced by a strong coffee presence. Thick body is well carbonated. For a big Baltic Porter, this goes down quite well.

On tap at Pizza Port in Carlsbad.
Poured a deep black with some dark garnet hues when held to the light. Small off-white head.
The aroma was of roasted malts, some deep caramel, and notes of molasses. Some faint sulfur from the lager yeast - a cue that this is a true BP and not some modified ale.
The flavor of the beer had a rich malt backbone with tons of deep caramel, chocolate, and black roasted malt. It was well balanced with some notes of molasses and an earthy and floral hop profile.
The carbonation was dialed in and the mouthfeel was medium/thick, but not too viscous. It had a nice creaminess that carried the finish well. The finish was clean and had a nice alcohol warmth that was appropriate to the style.
An excellent BP in a time when true lagered BPs brewed with pils malt are difficult to come by.
