Pours murky reddish-brown with a short tan head. Big and earthy. Nutty caramel aroma with some smoky grain. Taste is molasses and toffee, with some sweeter candied fruit flavors. A nice peatiness and earthy chewiness. Thought this was a Scottish when I had it.

On draft at brewery, 01/26/08.

Very dark brown, small ring of foam.

No aroma from taster glass.

Smooth caramel (subtle sweetness): a nut brown ale on steroids. Some abbey dubble style yeast character, if my taste buds do not deceive me. Easy to drink and the big ABV (9.5%) is not apparent.
