Pizza Port Solana Beach

November 3rd, 2016 - A lovely day at Toronado (before it closed in a few years) an evening, with the transitioned partnered with a Pizza Port Stout. The body is a very flat black. like a spooky still lake (Jason would be well placed at the inky bottom), and with no head in evidence. The aroma is heaviest on the malt tones, with a slight milk stout tang to it, and a touch of cacao nib for a chocolatey bitterness. The lighter palate makes this easy to drink, too, and grazes the palate with little sparks of spicy cinnamon, Mexican chocolate flavor, and a long aftertaste that draws that spiciness forward for a long time. Everything before the spice kicks in is a bit plain, but it's worth waiting it out for that palate tickling aftertaste.
