Shaka West Coast IPA - the second half of our fun collaboration with our Beer Buddies in the Pacific Northwest, Fremont Brewing.
At 7.0%, this beer celebrates our mutual love for some of the most awesome things in life; nature, high fives, friendship, good beer, and good cheer! You can expect waves of lemon and orange followed by piney and grassy notes on the nose and palate. This medium bodied beer is slightly sweet up front and finishes with the lingering bitterness that is the hallmark of West Coast style IPAs.

Look: Medium, slightly burnt orange with a silky white head that balloons to the rim, slowly settling to a pillow and leaving great lacing behind
Aroma: Cara cara orange, blueberries, white grapefruit, strawberries, pineapple, pine, some peach, apricot, a little Cannabis, and sweet bready malt
Taste: Grapefruit and oranges hit first and quickly followed by pine needles, peach, and pineapple that all intermingle well and deepen. Some fruity dank and berries come into play in the middle and pine-led conifer is ever-present as citrus regains momentum to close it out, along with a hefty bite
Mouthfeel: Full, lightly slick, medium-high carbonation, and medium to high perceivable dryness on the finish
Overall: This is some good stuff. As a fan of both of these folks, I wanted to try this as Pizza Port offerings are hit and miss for availability to me locally and it didn’t disappoint. A tasty and well-made concoction of citrus, pine, peach, berries, and pineapple come together along with an old-school feel, malt body, and bite and one I’m digging quite a bit

Huge pile of whipped cream foam on the amber brew in the GameCraft Pilsner glass. Lush and sudsy on the tongue. Warm and malty with a taste of peach to start. Quite bitter after some sipping. Another interesting clean and bitter IPA, but a little overdone and too bitter for real pleasure. From the 16 oz can purchased at Trader Joes. Dated 04/18/23.
Fremont says this is brewed with 2-Row Pale, Munich, White Wheat, and C-15 malt with Columbus, US Magnum, Centennial, Simcoe, and Idaho 7 hops. Too many hops, I say.
