Dry Irish Stout on Nitro. On tap at Local Habit. If only the industrial brands back in the Old Country were as good as this. Unless you like the bone-chilling dryness of the G-brew. Aroma of rye bread. Nearly black in the pint shaker with the usual attractive nitro head, but not overwhelmed by the gas.

Some burnt taste but enough sweet malt to mellow things out. Grainy and surprisingly rich for the light weight. Hints of dark chocolate and even a little buckwheat. Pleasant light body with that refreshing watery mouthfeel.

This seems to be back frequently on tap. It's a great flavorful low-alcohol quaff. Another winner in the Utah Four Percent category.

On tap at Pizza Port Ocean Beach in a tulip.

A: Very dark brown, nearly black, with an inch of tan cream. Lots of lacing.

S: Coffee meets roasted grains and a light nut profile. Chocolate is light.

T: Biscuit and a pronounced nuttiness with roasted grains and a little coffee. Bitterness is low. There's a touch of chocolate and a light acidic sourness in the end.

M: Medium body with lower moderate carbonation. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy.

Overall: A respectable Dry Stout, but not something I'd get again given the other beers they have to offer.

On-tap at Pizza Port Ocean Beach

A: The beer pours a very dark brown color that is nearly black. The head is creamy, dense, and khaki in color.

S: I get a lot of coffee and dark chocolate/cocoa notes out of this, which is pretty typical. A pretty substantial amount of roast and maybe even a slight creaminess. Not as overly dry and acidic on the nose as a lot of the beers of this style.

T: Unfortunately, the flavor is not as impressive as the smell. This is pretty watery and as such, the beer lacks flavor. Some decent chocolate and coffee notes along with some roast and bitterness make up what is there.

M: The body is thin and watery with a smooth, typical nitro carbonation.

D: I quite liked the nose, but the flavor was a real disappointment. I know Nitro is appropriate for this style, but it really sort of kills the flavor a lot of time.
