On Tap
Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA
Bright, clear golden orange with a thin white cap. Spiderweb lacing down the glass. Can't get much better.
Bready and somewhat sweet aroma along with some mild citrus hops.
Bitter and bready, with some sweet toffee and caramel malt and a slight citrus hop presence. Very nice and certainly refreshing.
Light to medium mouthfeel and especially easy to drink. This one begs to me gulped.
A simple, classic Port pale ale. Yes, I'll have another!

Draft service into a shaker pint glass at Pizza Port in Carlsbad.
A: Clear, medium golden color with one finger of white foam head. Heavy, step-wise, lacing remains on the glass and bubbles frequently rise from the bottom.
S: Toasty and dry, with carbon dioxide and faint IAA and esters.
T: Begins dry, with herbaceous spicy hop aromatics, crisp but grainy pale malt, and bright acidity with a fairly intense peak. Dry toasted grain persists in the middle as hops become more piney but generally weaker. The finish is peppery with moderate bitterness, and a dynamic mineral quality rises and falls in the corners of the mouth.
M: Thin viscosity, wet and acidic on the palate, with brisk carbonation.
D/O: This beer is refreshing, but it imparts an artificial feeling of fullness, limiting drinkability. The hop qualities found here are subordinate to malt that is very pale and one-note. Minerality in the finish, coupled with lively acidity, makes for an interesting quality but it may cause some palate fatigue.

Had on tap at PP - Carlsbad this past Sat.
A: My pint was filled to the brim with no head space other than some fizzy bubbles. Color is another clear golden straw pale hue. Some light lacing.
S: Nice citrusy hop aromas with some bready malt undertones.
T: Really nice citrus and pine hop punch. More English style I would say...at least the malt is more pronounced. Biscuit and sweet breads. Clean yeast profile used it seems.
M: Very light in body that has a great creamy texture and dry hop crisp finish to it.
All in all a real nice sessionable style pale ale that I would say is more characteristic of an English style pale. The malt is more english tofee and biscuit in character here. Profile is very similar to that of SNPA.
