On Tap

Pizza Port
Solana Beach, CA

Very dark brown in color with ruby edges and a small light brown head. This doesn't leave much stick at all to the pint glass.

A very pleasant, appropriate, and expressive aroma of roast, espresso, brown sugar sweetness, and bittersweet chocolate. Bold.

The flavor too is nice, though doesn't quite make the lasting impact the aroma does. The roast and coffee flavors are dominant, and I wish there was a bit more brown sugar/molasses character. Overall, very nice.

Medium bodied with high carbonation.

A very nice, flavorful porter, especially considering the relatively low ABV.

Chocolatey and fairly rich black mouthful. Usual black pour in the pint glass with a modest beige head. Quite spritzy in the mouth. Warm toned with a smooth flavor. Toast with some sweet soapy backwash. Cocoa with a hint of sour charcoal. Enough sweetness to mellow it out. Pleasant winey nose and roast malt aroma.

On tap at the OB Pizza Port. $4.50 for a pint.

On tap at Pizza Port Solana Beach. Tulip.

A: Deep brown with a dark red tinge near the edges when held to light. Half an inch of light brown foam caps the liquid.

S: Coffee meets roasted malt, bread, and a dash of molasses. Dark chocolate is pervasive. Hop character is earthy. Malt seems burnt at times

T: Dark chocolate blends with roasted grains and a touch of coffee. The lower moderate sweetness is balanced by a matching hop bitterness. The finish is chocolate and grainy roasted malt with an ephemeral burnt note and a slight acridity.

M: High carbonation with a lower full body.

Overall: A solid Robust Porter.
