Brewed at San Clemente. On tap at Toronado. Thanks to Stephen for sharing.
A: Dark brown with a red tinge near the edge of the glass. The head is an inch and a half of tan foam.
S: Roasted grains accompany chocolate and a nutty character. I get a whisper of smoke and a restrained molasses note. Plum lingers in the background.
T: Chocolate with biscuit, roasted grains, and a little dark fruit. Caramel is evident in the nutty cocoa butter finish.
M: Lower medium body with upper high carbonation.
Overall: More intense and richer than I expect from the style, but still pretty good.
