On tap at Pizza Port in San Clemente, CA.

This one is pretty much a 5’1” girl who rocked you. Like, it’s this little baby Mild, but it still speaks to you like Bukowoski when he’s in a rut. It’s good. It’s nice. And it hits the spot like some spotted cock. (Ok, I just realized that the fish is actually called Spotted Dick. But let’s pretend for a second it’s Spotted Cock).

Oh baby.

On tap at Pizza Port in San Clemente, CA.

Pours a clear dark copper with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, roasted malt, and caramel. Taste is much the same with a caramel flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is flavorful and mild.

Very nice appearance with renewable head a lots of lacing. Clear dark brown with a glint of coppery red. Just a scratch of dark roast malt. Vastly better than most brown ales in my experience. Clean and crisp, beery and slightly malty with a modest selection of warm flavors. Not overly bitter. Less earthy than some. Highly quaffable. Not soul stirring but a valiant attempt to stir some flavor into a low-alcohol beer.

On tap at La Sirena in South Laguna Beach. Marked at 4.3% ABV. $6 for a 15 oz "pint" glass. They called it a Brown Ale, but clearly more in the English tradition.

On-tap at La Sirena Grill. Listed at 4.3% ABV, on to the beer:

It's dark brown in color with a ruby red hue. Good lace strings itself around the glass, and the head retention is also good. The nose....is nutty, a little sweet, sweet like nutella. Hazelnut.

I can't argue much about the flavor. Even at 4.3% ABV, this is flavorful. Fudge, toffee, light brush of pine and hops, unmalted dark malt, nuts. Light bodied with a little buzz of carbonation, and pleasing unmalted flavor lingering in the aftertaste. The overall package makes this an easy drinking beer.

Just what I needed, a little pick me up that wouldn't knock me on my feet. A good find.

On cask at Beachwood I,

A: Pours mahogany with a medium off-white head, nice lace.

S: Nuttiness, toffee, brown malt.

T: Bready malt, some light brown sugar, nuttiness, hint of coffee.

M: Light-bodied, smooth, soft carbonation, very easy drinking.

O: I think my first Mild on cask, I quite enjoyed it. Well done.
