On tap at Pizza Port Ocean Beach. This is a slightly stronger version of Tarantulas 2.0. Tulip.

A: Dark brown bordering on black with a finger of beige foam.

S: Dank pine resin and aromatic earth accompany pronounced floral notes. Perfumy citrus is redolent of orange, tangerine, and grapefruit, with a matching level of rind. Malt reminds me of cracker and biscuit. Smells great.

T: Bitter grapefruit rind with light orange and grapefruit flesh notes. There's a firm pine resin presence. The beer is very dry with a moderate bitterness. Malt imparts light bready notes with some cracker. There's an alcohol bite in the finish with an increased level of dry bitterness.

M: Medium body with matching carbonation. Mouthfeel is dry and sticky.

Overall: A pretty good IPA. Very nice aroma but the alcohol flavor in the late palate is pretty strong for 7.5%, and combined with a little astringency it makes for a strange finish. I prefer Tarantulas 2.0.
