Handsome amber color in the pint shaker. Thin body but perky flavor. Pleasantly carbonated on the tongue.
Hops up front, but then they fade, only to resurge in the aftertaste. It's recirculating hops. Pleasant flowery hop flavors to start. Sharp and bitter on the light mouthfeel. If this was 4% ABV I'd be more charitable. It gets to be quite thin, bitter, and sharp, which is OK for a big, thirsty gulp, but not so pleasant for sipping after a pizza.
Drank this on tap at the Ocean Beach location on Election night, 2012.

This beer was my first at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach. I love this place. I'll review it a little later. Right now for 125. It pours a clear golden color with white head that is constantly fed by carbonation bubbles migrating from the bottom. Light lemony citrus bouquet. Mouthfeel is cottony and full. Mild flavors of citrus and pine. Quintessential pale ale.

On tap at Port Carlsbad – 05/03/12
A: Pours a burnished almost brass-like golden color with some real nice clarity. Has a light yellowish glow around the edges. Real effervescent. Forms about a fingers worth of pure white foamy head that leaves some running tracks of lace down the glass.
S: Smell is a super fruit blast full of bright apricot notes with predominant candied citrus fruits. I get lots of tangerine peel and a finishing grassy leaf note. Really nice fruity and floral aroma.
T: Taste is just loaded with citrusy hops that leads with copious grapefruit and orange flavs. Citrus gives way to a kick of that signature PizzaPort hemp plant note. Nicely layered upon an almost biscuity pale malt base that brings a soft grainy sweetness to the brew. Good amount of astringent bitterness. Very sessionable at just 5%ABV and just oh so hoppy.
M: Real light in body with a somewhat creamy mouthfeel and a super dry crisp finish. Upper level of carb. Lingering sticky hop oils coat the mouth.
D: Another great brew from Yiga out of OB! Such a nice hoppy sessionable pale. Nice citrus notes with a big bitterness factor and the pale malts retaining balance. I could crush this one all day long.
Right up there with Alpine’s Hoppy Birthday.
