So apparently no one has written a review of this beer in over 4 years? Well the 2017 BA Bacon & Eggs really adds on and complements the base porter. Coffee and bourbon on the nose. Taste is balanced, medium barrel/little heat, blends well with the coffee. Not stout level thickness but not much of a detractor. Smooth finish, could drink this all day....

Love Bacon and Eggs, so was pretty excited to see this on tap at PP Ocean Beach. Quite the awful beer it turns out. Served in an 8 oz snifter, this has the same inky black appearance as regular Bacon and Eggs. The nose brings a heavy dose of acetone and cheap whiskey, with little in the way of coffee or chocolatey dark malts. The palate is similarly flawed by acetone and boozy bottom shelf bourbon. The mouthfeel is on the thin side. Coffee is absent. This is remarkably bad; something went wrong here.

On tap at Strong Ale. I might have been the only one who liked this.
A: Dark brown with a fast fading beige head.
S: Earthy, nutty coffee meets a strong barrel presence, redolent of bourbon, caramel, dark toffee, and vanilla. Oxidation in the barrel has drawn out dark fruit notes that weren't present in regular Bacon & Eggs, though maybe they were overshadowed by the coffee. Plum and grape are evident. Firm dark chocolate presence.
T: Bourbonic caramel brown sugar with a restrained coffee presence. Plum blends with grape, prune, and earth. There's a little vanilla and some oxidized coffee. Alcohol is well hidden.
M: Sticky mouthfeel with alcohol warming and very low carbonation.
Overall: I have mixed feelings about this. The coffee is dialed way back compared to Bacon & Eggs, but the barrel profile is quite nice and the dark fruit is also pleasant. It's not the Bacon & Eggs you know but it's still pretty good. This grew on me.
