Amalgamation of orange and yellow, with what looks like a slice of wheat bread put into a blender and then dumped in here. To style! Aroma was thick bread baking.
Taste offered some residual sweetness in the mouthfeel, earthy, the kind that gets in between your teeth. Warming alcohol sensation.

On tap at Tiger! Tiger! in the 0.4 litre tall Allagash glass for $5.50. Handsome coppery amber color. An eye-opening mouthful of flavors. Almost eye-watering. Pumped up intensity of fruit and hops. It's like an IPA made from canned peaches. The allegedly Belgian yeasty flavor is little short of an attack on the taste buds.
I wouldn't call this a Bière de Garde, it's more of a Belgian IPA with an attack of fiery flavors from some Chinese herbal wine. Quite fascinating but barely drinkable. The sweetness carries through to the aftertaste where it joins the salivation-inducing bitter dryness.

Had this one at my favorite Pizza Port: San Clemente. A cloudy yellow and light orange mixture, these biere de gardes are always described by others as 'bready' so I think the appearance is fitting, and anything with orange in it always looks prettier than it would be without it. Good 1" head depth on it, solid retention.
Aroma is a humid, wait for it, 'bready' malt bill.
Taste is ever so slightly sweet, nothing much in terms of hop flavor, mild bitterness. Minimal alcohol intrusion, earthy tones. Kind sticky on the teeth. Tiny fruit ester in the mouthfeel ebbs and flows at times.
One of my least favorite styles, but this one at least didn't have anything offputting to me like most do in this category. Still, found it to be meh overall. Great name, decent beer.

On tap at Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA.
Pours a clear orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, and vegetal aromas. Taste is much the same with a burnt vegetal flavor on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty poor beer that has some odd aromas and flavors.

Consumed February 18th, 2013 at Pizza Port, San Clemente, CA.
Beer pours a brilliant golden-orange color. A creamy one-finger white head sat atop the beer when it arrived, but it soon degenerated into a splotchy crown of excellent lacing.
Aroma is slightly musty caramel malt.
Flavor is similar, but with some added fruitiness. Moderate bitterness on finish.
Mouthfeel is slightly dry but otherwise unremarkable.
Nothing too amazing, sadly, though it seems to nail the style guidelines pretty well.
