On tap at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach. Clear brown in the pint shaker with a decent foam. Sprightly carbonation in the mouth. Not so English, IMO, but makes for more drinkability with the restrained bitterness.

It tastes more of burnt grain than hops, which adds its own bitterish twang. Faintly fruity with a hint of butter. Some nuttiness, toasted malt, and a caramel aftertaste. Quite quaffable but a little low on the Minnesota Multiphasic Beeriness Pleasure Scale.

A pint shaker glass served on tap at Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA

Appearance - Brown. A bit cloudy. A tan colored head that never entirely disappears. Minimal lacing.

Smell - Big, malty nose.

Taste - Malt. Cream soda. Marshmellows. Big malt finish.

Mouth - The carbonation is fine yet pronounced. The beer feels creamy on the pallet.

Overall - Big Buck is a wonderful interpetation of an English Brown Ale. Big, malty, and smooth. The real surprise is the carbonation. Pizza Port nailed this one!

On tap at Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA.

Pours a hazy brown with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, roasted malt, and caramel. Taste is much the same with a burnt caramel flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.
