On cask at Pizza Port in Carlsbad, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, peppers, and alcohol. Taste is much the same with a pepper flavor on the finish. There is a medium amount of roasty bitterness and pepper heat on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is quite spicy but tasty and interesting.
