Growler pour at the Protest Bottle Share For LA Beer Week held at Red Carpet Wine in Glendale, CA.
Thanks to charlzm for sharing this one.
Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Thick swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, marshmallow, bourbon, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly sour cocoa and bourbon flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of woody bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable but is a bit thin and subtle for a barrel aged beer.
