Inky and oily

Smells incredible. Remiscent of heart and soul and black double oak black magcik b2 (both came after this).

Taste hits explosive and caramely up front. Swretness and carmelized sugar. Roastiness but not initially bitter. The landscape QUICKLY changes as you're hit with dark bakers cocoa and smoke. The lingering chalky bitterness lasts long after each sip.

Feel is oily and dense. Robust, slick, coating.

Overall kind of a Rollercoaster. Im giving it a 4.5 but thats probably pretty generous. 4.35 on my scale so a great beer but not exceptional for the limited availability. Ala id buy it again on the shelf but wouldn't endeavor out of my way for it.

poured from a 12oz bottle into a snifter. pours an oily jet black with minimal mocha brown foam that disappears leaving no trace that it was ever there to begin with. hot, hot bourbon on the nose with some chocolate and vanilla to back it up. a subtle nuttiness on the nose as well. taste follows with the chocolate and vanilla leading the way into an oaky, bourbon-forward finish. i don’t get any of the nuttiness i got on the nose in the taste. full mouthfeel with a little more lively carbonation than i expected after the initial pour. excellent BA imperial stout and a collaboration of 2 breweries known for their barrel programs. the adjunct additions are subtle on this one melding nicely with a bourbon-forward base stout.

A bit of alcohol burn in the taste, but a great BBA stout overall. Vanilla and cacoa nibs flavors come only in the aftertaste. Quite thick for mouth feel.

Matte black with a relatively tall, stark burnt mocha foam head that darkens to near mahogany hues before sizzling out to a thin chain.

The charred oak is just delectable, with the vanilla and barrel combining to create the coveted brownie batter and marshmallow divinity. The second sip is immediately more woody mid-palate, yet less hot, where the finish has a level of vanilla so potent that it's almost tart--mind you, it's not acidic, but it has a punch to it that emulates a flavor not unlike the most concentrated espresso and it's super uniquely expressive.

As I sit with it, I come to realize that the nose isn't far off from early batches of Fundamental Observation, and being a Bottle Logic collaboration, the connection only becomes more powerful. However, as it warms, nutty cacao blooms, while its woodiness is so drying it begins to develop a dusty powdered almond quality. You might think with the addition of chocolate it'd make more sense for this to be closer to Number Crunch, but it isn't.

Viscous yet sharp in an oddly dichotomous partnership, BAPF has quite the dry finish following just after the finely cutting carbonation, where a significantly numbing heat resides.

Intense. That's the entire experience with this beer, from start to finish.
