Clear reddish-brown, gem-like and almost tiger eye but darker and redder, with a moderate khaki foam head settling to nothing at all but a fluid, wine-like surface.

Sweet and bready up front, it exhibits spiced dark fruits like plum and date with a little brown toast. Subsequent sips, and particularly as it warms, apple butter, fig and mincemeat develop, but all in nice balance.

The body is fulfillingly round with a mild carbonation finishing tingly semi-dry, exhaling some mixed nuts, focused primarily on the Brazil variety.

Very comforting, it's almost quad-like, but not quite as deep and hefty, and there's also a slight bit of astringency that crops up at times. It doesn't damage it too much, but keeps it from being great.
