Mostly clear gold-orange with a puffy off-white head of moderate height slowly settling to a fine ring leaving fluid cobwebs on the glass.

This one is crazy citrusy, and syrupy in that vein, but also accented by a spicy passion fruit sort of tang that the rye seems to be coaxing out of the citrusy hops. These attributes are contrasted by a light resinous sappiness, making for quite the interesting brew.

The medium body has a light carbonation and finishes semi-dry, with only a faint exhale of toasted biscuit.

I'm torn between 4.5 and 4.75. Voodoo is so polarizing. Their core beers are so diabolical bad I almost never try anything except for the barrel room shit. Then every now and then I do and and they hit an absolute grand slam like this DIPA. They should really abandon their core shit already, they're clearly capable of brewing good beer. Who TF actually drinks white magick of the sun?

Kinda Hot in These Rhinos from Voodoo. Purchased 0n 4/1/21 for $ 4.00 (Including tax) for 16 oz can ($ 0.250/oz) from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. In reefer at store and stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 28/1/21.
Undated can. Served at 46.2 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 53.4 degrees.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), slight haze.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), opaque. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Average (Maximum 2.8 cm, aggressive center pour), baby powder, high density, short retention, leaving a four to eight mm crown, and a thin complete cap.
Lacing – Excellent! Multiple thin bands merge into a wide band of torn curtain lacing.
Aroma – 4 – Begins with a brief blast of sawn conifers followed by earthiness and a bit of citrus, so Simcoe hops? No malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 4.25 – Much less piney than the nose suggests, more of the earthiness and some rye spiciness, slight maltiness, no yeast. No alcohol (7.9 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. However, slight gastric warming eventually begins. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated container) Looks like a NEIPA but tastes like an old-school DIPA. Still, a good brew at a reasonable price.
