The fluid glossy black body builds only a short but soft tan head that quickly dies to a flat collar that recedes to a thin ring.
Having this side by side Voodoo's more recent Weller BA stout Heart & Soul, (after 20+ days of no alcohol, no less), the entire living room is wafting with all kinds of chocolate aromas bouncing off each other.
A more uniquely challenging compare and contrast than I expected, this Hot Garbage variant is a little sharper, woodier and nuttier than its Heart & Soul counterpart. The chocolate expression is more of a cacao liqueur on the nose here, with a potent whiskey backing, yet in a sort of damp oak direction.
On the palate, it's certainly thinner and hotter, but also more mature and oaky of some charred bourbon. The chocolate qualities are more of the dark variety, as opposed to the mocha of H&S.
The finish is even crisper, and also tingly and nearly sticky, exhaling more booze. Some licorice develops here as it warms.
