Pours an oily night black color with a small, soon vanishing dark brown head.
Aromas are of matured red wine grapes, milk chocolate, toasty coconut and charred malts among a spirit heavy, spicy oaken barrel.
Mouthfeel on this is thick, smooth and decadently creamy, unfolding a well balanced, heavy bodied beer.
Tastes of eccentric, spicy and pleasantly sharp, booze soaked grapes among a savory note of campfire smoke and opposing bitter chocolate. This gets entangled into cherry piths, hints of mousse au chocolate and stale, leathery old wood. Finishes with luscious milk chocolate among drops of caramel, toned down by the prominent, warming barrel and a meaty, yet elegant spiciness.
This is a fantastic non adjunct barrel aged imperial stout with lots of subtle facets, which makes this interesting till the last drop. Its barrel characteristics are well pronounced without getting out of hand at any point with a great, balancing mouthfeel making this a pleasure throughout.
