poured from a 12oz black-waxed bottle into a TG DBA tumbler. pours solid black with virtually no foam. maybe a few bubbles around the rim of the glass. chocolate, toffee, caramel, bourbon, oak and even a hint of vanilla on the nose. taste follows with the sweeter barleywine components not only complimenting but almost taking to another level their barrel-aged imperial stout flavors. thick, full mouthfeel. it’s sticky and coats the mouth. this rocks. it’s way more imperial stout than barleywine but it gives a lovely caramel sweetness to their otherwise roast and char-forward barrel-aged imperial stouts.

Hmm. Voodoo has had a remarkable streak of bangers lately, and most notably an incredible surge upwards towards some of the thickest densest stouts I've ever had. This one pours less mesmerizing than most lately. No way thin but not gelatin like frig et al.

Smell is really mute. Im kind of concerned actually. It got hot in my truck console for the ride home so I put in the freezer for a half hour to try and bring it cellar temp... i may have over chilled this as im not getting anything big here.

Taste is nice. Very sweet and probably too much so for me. Light years better than an aphotic but ill take most magicks or zangief/blanka over this. It was maybe a touch colder than i wanted it but not overchilled.

Interesting lack of aroma. Feel is much thicker than it looked and far above average stout/strong ale density. Very oily.

Overall - very good. Nowhere near as good as the 2lgcv2 from 2013 that I had earlier today at the brewpub, but good nonetheless.

For a blend, this pours quite the viscous tar black. Its head works hard to surface, ultimately displaying as a mocha quarter pipe all the way around a glossy surface.

The nose conjures two aggressively concentrated syrups ribboning around each other: bourbon-maple and chocolate. While it's quite woody, it's also substantially marshmallowy.

The flavor profile is intensely distilled as well, exhibiting whiskey dipped chocolate wafer and spiced date with an impressively cutting, bittersweet dark cacao-like quality that dries out the decadence to perfection.

The roundly medium body contains a nearly crisp but fine carbonation that comes to a maturely warming exhale, encouraging a long session that meets room temperature.
