poured from a yellow-waxed 12oz bottle into a perennial snifter. pours a gloppy black with no head and a nice shine to it. smooth barrel, char, tobacco and faint chocolate on the nose. taste follows with a heavy bittersweet chocolate component. the barrel is there but it so smooth. a big, thick and full mouthfeel on this one. my glass is completely stained with dark brown legs running down it. this was really good. kind of black magickish but also not quite as barrel forward as most of those tend to be.

An ominously slow, tarry black pour takes a stunning amount of time to present a fine but short dark mocha head that quickly disperses to a thin collar around that tar pit.
Aroma absolutely explodes as it's being poured, exuding very dark chocolates with unexpected hints of caramelized banana backed by a fresh espresso grind.
Taste adds a softer, more unctuously savory oak than I often get from Pappy "blessed" stouts, like almond paste and even graham but with nougat and plenty more dark chocolate. This all comes to an exceedingly tangy, coffee-like acid before exhaling a delicate warmness. I also occasionally get some chocolate covered strawberry within that tang. A little more char comes with a whiskey flavor but without the heat, while Toblerone and perhaps Raisinet all emerge as it warms.
The old lady thought it was really fucking thick, and while it is viscous and velvety, I also think it's shy of super thick or gloppy, which is a plus for me.

I'm not a homer for Voodoo, I call them like they are and the if the beer is a let down (ie blantons black magick) I call it like it is.
Having said that this beer is a masterpiece. No I cant taste the rare and I dont even know (or particularly care) what PVW 15 tastes like. This beer is just a damn anomaly. The density and gelatinous feel is thicker tha anything out there ive experienced. The flavors are dense and roasty. Bakers cocoa bomb with lots of oakiness and vanilla notes. Not really in the standard review writing mood so im just going to leave at this and enjoy the beer and a new episode of meat eater. Cheers.
