Generally dislike wine barrel aged beers but thia one has two things going for it. One, I very, very much liked the previous quadfather that preceeded this a few weeks prior. And two, if I do drink wine on the rare occasion Malbec is my preferred choice. I still doubt I'll like the barrel treatment of this beer but here goes.

Look is murky brownish/reddish. Quite an uncommon color here, its actually quite attractive.

Smell is pretty fucking intense. Its absolutely uncanny how well the wine and quad aromas play together. The barrel is very much present and there's loads of grape must and oak atop a fruity semi-sweet quad.

Taste is exquisite. I genuinely love this when I thought I'd likely hate it. Its better than the Applewood one and one of the better quads I've ever had. But to honest, it's a stark departure from a true to style quad. At least as i know them (IE st bernadus 12).

Its rich and fruity predominantly tasting of berries from the beer, and dry oaky grapeskin notes from the barrel. Getting a lot of milk chocolate on this too. Bitterness seems to be solely of the barrel. This beer has a lot more going on than I'm capable of describing. Its absolutely terrific how well the wine barrel compliments this though.

Feel is not sticky despite its sweetness. Initially its almost crisp. Moderate to high alcohol heat and finishes satisfyingly dry. Red wine and grapes linger on the palate with little sweetness left behind.

Overall. Its rare that I rate an overall higher than the individual rated facets of a beer but I am downright just impressed with how well this beer goes with the barrel.

Drinking again for NYE. This and applewoof are the two best quads ive ever had. Now having had both twice ill give this the edge which is insane because I historically hate wine aged beers. Absolutely perfectly executed.
