Copper red to varnished brown with a tan, finely bubbly foam head of moderately short height that settles to a lightly curled, puffy collar.
An old school American-esque barleywine-like, it’s a dichotomy of sweet then bitter potency. Softly sweet, bready toffee malt up front recedes to a boozy and biting middle before a piney bitterness and an orange lozenge and cherry chapstick finish. As it warms, a bit of concord grape emerges, too.
Embracing all the ‘00s, overall it's a bit hard to put more than a few ounces down, which shakes out.
