DATE: March 1, 2025... OCCASION: re-ripping a bunch of discs that I inadvertently deleted (long story), the desire for beer and caffeine arises... thus, time to dust this one off after cellaring it for a year and a half... GLASSWARE: Citrabellum pokal... pours a viscous, thick black that holds a staunch, foamy beige head... intimidating and appealing... first drag is equally heavy, with chocolate, fudge, coffee bean, toffee, roasted malts, and hints of vegetable... potent and warming... it sips pleasantly enough, almost elusive considering its 9% ABV... it passes the palate with a body weight on par with its aroma and pouring--chewy and staying... a bit boozy and heated at the throat... the flavor profile is chocolate, coffee, and fudge, with roasted malts and toffee sweetening its finish... a bit of dissonance with some vegetable and phenol... overall, this is a nice nightcap if you want to continue past the night--the coffee is brash, and it revels in a mash-up of after-dinner expectations... more than drinkable despite its strength...

12oz can from another new brewery for me. Black-ish pour with a dark mocha-colored head. Strong coffee profile, roast and nutty dark bitterness with notes of chocolate as well. Pretty much exactly what I look for in a coffee stout.

From a can. Pours a deep brown- black with a short tan head. The nose is almost completely coffee with a little chocolaty malt mixed in. The flavor is coffee, chocolate, and a little cream. Medium full bodied and easy drinking.

Black in color, small tan head that settles to a ring around the glass.
Strong aroma of coffee, some roasted malt.
Taste of espresso, make that triple espresso. A little dark chocolate.
Big bodied, nice lingering coffee bitterness.
A seriously good beer.

Glossy black with a puffy brown head pockmarked by air bubbles, fizzling down to a thin but persistent fuzzy blanket.

Toasty coffee meets roasty chocolate malt to combine forces in weaving a delectable vanilla cream ribbon before a more crackly coffee bean skin creates a bitter, woody and drying finish, exhaling a hint of cinnamon bark.

The medium body has a silky feel and a fine carbonation that comes to a contrastingly paper dry finish.

Much better than I expected based on early reviews.

Listed as a double Imperial coffee stout I can see it as pretty much same vein as Founder Breakfast stout but a more robust coffee character from the coffee used by Giant Eagle Market District and the sweetness of the American Imperial stout base. At just $13.99 a four pack its pretty affordable and as I type this I have easy finished a six pack between a few sessions. Pick some up if you love smooth coffee stouts with a nice ABV kick!
