poured from a black-waxed 12oz bottle into a TG DBA tumbler. pours thick and pitch black. not a lot of better looking BA imperial stouts out there honestly. lots of bourbon on the nose but also light chocolate and chocolate-covered cherries. taste follows with less cherry than the nose but more earth and tobacco backed with chocolate and bourbon. thick, full mouthfeel. i dig it.

Void black and utterly headless on draft, it stains the glass brown like smoked maple syrup. I'm digging the slightly more legible label change on the bottles, though.
Chars and dark chocolates really swirl well around each other, exhibiting all kinds of campfire marshmallow, black peppery whiskey and super savory Reisen. I feel like I say that a lot, but hey, in these really well made BA stouts it's a characteristic I absolutely love. Walnutty nougat develops as it warms.
Despite being nearly headless, this is fairly crisp for an aphotic, though I can already tell this is going to be another all black bottle that will benefit from time in the cellar, which is typical for aphotics for whatever reason, even the cherry one. In 6 months I'd be willing to bet this will hit closer to 4.75.

A year and a half later, it has become far more peanutty than walnutty. We got ourselves a Baby Ruth here.
