a decent kolsch base here, even perhaps employing real limes in this thing, but the dosage is so over the top that the good parts of this are lost, it seems artificial by intensity, and the nuance and drinkability of the kolsch at the heart of this are covered up, it ends up one dimensional, forced, and not a favorite around our table in here unfortunately. tons of lime beers out there now that fill this niche, and this does not rise up to the level of the best of them. shiny yellow beer from the tap with very little head but nice clarity. the aroma is all lime, could be real, but its heavy, bigtime zesty oily boldness with some acidic juiciness there too, both sides of the fruit on display, slightly floral too, some pear and apple character from the yeast underneath the lime and very light on the grain to me, not a whole lot of beer elements evident in fact with all the lime, and that is also true in the taste, lime is the first and last thing on my palate, and it stays with me awhile, almost pushing into that perfume range, hard to shake and losing some refreshment value because of it, even though this is light in body and better carbonated than some of their others we had in the same sitting. the lime is way overdone, but the kolsch has some promise on its own, id love to try that on its own next time. the voodoo beers have been super hit or miss for me so far...
