12 oz undated can ($3.29).

Appearance. This has a dark, essentially opaque body that starts with a good size, light khaki colored head.

There's mint, chocolate and dark grains in the aroma. Both chocolate and mint are obvious in the flavor but it's more boozy than expected for 8.5% ABV. The aftertaste is the strong point.

12 ounce can, canned on 12/11/24, thanks to Brutaltruth for this can! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head that stayed around a while with a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like mint, chocolate and some cream. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some graininess noticeable too. The mint seems like a spearmint/peppermint mix but I could be wrong about that. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and a bit coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this one OK, worth trying especially if you like minty stouts!

This was a pretty intense beer, but it was almost too sweet, like an ice cream made with the fake mint flavoring that turns it bright green. The beer isn't green, but I wouldn't have been shocked if it was. The stout base is pretty good, but I wanted more of that and less of the add-ins so I could see how they make their base beers. I'd try other beers of theirs to see if this is a trend or just how this one came out this time.

From the 12 oz can in a snifter. This solid little imperial pours a deep muddled
brownish black with a nice head of khaki foam that settles to a thick ring, thin
dusty layer, and displays some faint lacing. Nose of mint and chocolate, little
else other than a hint of dark brown sugar. A touch one dimensional but those
are nice dimensions. Flavors follow the nose with dark chocolate, mint, and a touch
of cream dashed with a hint of char. Mouth feel is medium, medium light carbonation,
lightly creamy, and finishing with a bitter malt and herbal mint note that is faintly dry.

Overall it is reminiscent of the thin mints at the motels or steak houses on the way
out the door or on the pillow.

A decent topper for an evening.

Cheers

Cowbell Double Mint Chocolate Imperial Milk Stout from Voodoo. 12 oz can. Picked up at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA, 08/01/25. Reviewed 15/01/25 (Review 3447). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom rim stamped “CANNED ON 12/11/24.” Stored at room temperature at the distributor, at 39 degrees F at home. Served at 48.2 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 55.7 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Deep Amber (SRM 15), nearly opaque.
Body – Milk Chocolate Brown (SRM 20), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same but reddish at the edges.
Head: Average (Maximum two cm, aggressive center pour), almond, medium density. Quickly drops to a 0.1 - 0.2 cm bubble ring fed by spotty carbonation, and a thin, partial island.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3.25 – By really horning, something that might be mint can be detected: weak chocolate as well. No hops, no yeast, no ethanol (8.5 % ABV, as marked on label). No disulfide or diacetyl.
Flavor – 3 – Mint and bitter chocolate. No yeast, no hops, no ethanol. No disulfides, no diacetyl. Faint gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium; almost creamy; soft carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 As it warms, more of the roasted stout begins to come out and the mint and chocolate begin to fade into the background. Definitely not something I’d drink again.
