500ml brown bottle presentation, bottle-conditioned. "Born: Jan 06, BBE: Jun 06", served cool in a straight imperial-pint glass. The intriguing name refers to the Sumatran coffee added to the beer, and I have no comment on the suggestion on the label that "Perfect for drinking in any position"~~
A: dark brownish colour with caramely hints; the hissing and spongey beer head dissipates rather fast, leaving an abundantly fizzy body.
S: sour-sweet edge of dark chocolates, and a burned note of overly-roasted and finely ground coffee beans abound (exactly like what my cousin brought from Indonisia), decorated with a faint touch of vanilla, very light-bodied dark malts, and a flow of spicy+berry hint of Shiraz red wine... Very straight-forward--like a cup of very watery filtered coffee with some aroma...
T: the burned flavour of roasted barleys prevails in no time... fast leading to a semi-sweet charred-woody as well as light coffee-ish aftertaste. Not much hops nor bitterness to play with in the finish. Simply roasty down the palate.
M&D: the texture is too fizzy initially and takes quite some time to soften... And the body is light and slightly watery at the tail of tasting. In a way this is an easy-drinking stout with a twist, but surely there're much better real coffee stouts on offer nowadays... More efforts are needed.
