Fire In The Hole Chili Beer

I bought this beer at a Food and Drink Festival in Cheltenham. I like hot and spicy things so I thought it was worth a try. Sadly it has nothing to recommend it. Firstly it was cloudy, not hazy but very cloudy, more so than a wheat beer, which it wasn't. Secondly it was tasteless, until the chilli hit you a few seconds after a mouthful, there was nothing there, unbelievably bland. With a highly spiced beer you need some fullness of taste to back up the strong flavours but in this beer even the chilli was just hot, no taste at all. The whole effect was one dimensional it was wet and hot and not a lot else - it's unlike me to put a beer down the sink but in this case I made an exception.
