It's cold as hell and raining outside so I decided to go down to the Gaslight and try one of their winter seasonal offerings. Brought this baby home in one of their glass growlers.
Appearance-Out of the growler and into the pint glass....black as night with a three inch creamy head that sticks around and to the side of the glass, exceptional clarity in the color. This is a good looking beer!
Smell-ooh man, luscious caramel malt hits the senses immediately, other sweet malts support it, slight coffee nuances as well.
Taste-deep and rich, very malty on the toungue, a huge licorice flavor comes out, smooth on the way down, with a weird bitter twang and dryness coming on in the end.
Mouthfeel-not that hoppy, very malty so it leans toward that side of the spectrum, the bitter twang I"m not a fan of but I do like the flavor beforehand.
Drinkability-I love the rush of flavors in the brew, with the exception of the odd flavor twang at the end it is exceptional.
Overall-another fine beer from Gaslight, this is a winter seasonal offering that will certaintly warm your stomach with its rich malt and flavoring, I just wish it didn't have that weird twang near the end of the finish, other than that though this is top-notch stuff.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
