What a beautiful monastery brewery! Nice to spend an afternoon, there is a restaurant, a wine bistro, ice cream café and a shop. We have tasted delicious beer and had a nice drink. And of course we also took some things home. Not only beer, but also homemade liqueur, mustard and even vinegar.

Huge property with a several centuries history. Three choices of tap beer, choice of Mosel wines, quality food. Space for kids to play. Very good service staff. Biergarten in summer.

I visited the Kloster Machern on a wet Monday lunchtime (June 2007) with my wife and three people with walking difficulties. This review has therefore, to be taken with a pinch of salt.
The whole set up is very impressive (see the website), but it wasn't all open when we went.
We went straight to the brewhouse and I got two bottles of each beer they brew (helle, dunkell and wiess) from a chap who was cleaning the brewing equipment. Sadly the main drinking room (brauhaus) was closed.
We found the wine stube, a smart, light, airy room with a bar in it. The had the helle and wiess on tap, which were both in good order.
The ladies in my party had coffee and cakes, they were also fine, according to the girls. The young lady that served us was lovely, didn't much like her sour faced female overseeing person.
The car/coach park is huge and there are hundreds of tables on the well kept lawns, all empty on our day, but it must fill up at weekends and sunny days. I will revisit one day, hopefully when the whole place is available for me to enjoy. I want to attack the real menu and drink in the bar I can see on the website.

This is one of my favorite brewery/restaurants to visit in the Eifel region of Germany. It has a large biergarten for them warm summer day's and a large bar for the cold winter nights. The beer is outstanding I would highly recommend the dunkel and helle. The food is also great with not to high of prices. The whole staff speaks english so if you have questions about the menu or anything else they are very helpful. They also recently started bottling beers for take home in several different sizes. They have a few items on the menu that feature there beer such as the brewmeisters schnitzel which I can never pass up. Anytime you are along the Mosel river you must seak this place out.
