Almost no head at all out of the growler. The brew is a deep bronze color with amber notes. Nice big sweet malty aroma. Touches of cherries and orange peels as well. Nicely balanced with an earthy hoppiness to it.

The brew is dominated by sweet at first, but a nice hop presence is there as well. I picked up a bit of alcohol too. It is rich in flavor, but not thick in body, just about average. This big malty brew is a nice fall drinker, and a growler could go in no time. A well-made brew, and it is definitely worth a shot.

Apparently this beer has won a medal at GABF and I guess I can see that. This is a pretty good Oktoberfest. Rich amber color with a medium beige head. Thin and sticky lacing. Strong sweet malt aroma. The body is medium to full, and is bordering on too much malt. Luckily there is just enough hops to balance it out. The finish definitely has legs as well, sweet malt and caramel that never becomes cloying. I liked this.

JJ Bitting's Oktoberfest is an award winning brew. It's an outstanding concoction. A soft and gentle darker color. It is as hearty as it is clean to drink. A present malt base and obvious complexity exemplify the care and creativity that are inherent in every glass of JJ’s Oktoberfest. The only down side is that Oktoberfest comes but once a year
