Kept a decent head after poured from the growler. A dark and somewhat cloudy, brownish-red color. A mild roasted, spicy scent.
A strong spice taste, mostly a clove like essence, is present in the flavor. An obvious holiday feel to it. Minimal hoppiness, and a smooth finish. Heavy, but quite drinkable. A nice accompaniment to the festive holiday dinner.

From a growler purchased earlier in the day.
Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a thin, off-white head that leaves some lacing.
The smell is of nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove. Spicy, with dark bready malt underneath.
The taste is of roasted malt. Nutty and spicy. A brown ale with a winter spice kick. Nutmeg, cinnamon, clove. A touch of vanilla in the finish. Spiciness and earthiness balance out sweetness well, while leaving bitterness only a balancing hint Alcohol is well-covered, almost too much for a "warmer", but spiciness makes up for it.
Lighter side of medium bodied (but not watery). Smooth despite spiciness. "Sessionable" for a winter brew. Nice restrained spiciness in a brown ale.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub.
Presented as a reddish brown beer with moderate off-white head. Nice retention and lacing.
Smell is a nice holiday spice mixture, with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves definitely evident.
Taste is nice and malty, and the spices serve as a nice backgriound without being overwhelming.
Nice full mouthfeel with great taste retention.
Very drinkable. Could be a nice session beer at a holiday party.

This brew has a nice look as brown, bronze, and ruby highlights made up the color with a thick 2"+ head. Thick lacing developed during the drink. The aroma was of roasted malt and spice. The flavor was of roasted malts, nutmeg, cinammon, hazlenut, and nice bitterness. The multiple flavors were well balanced.
The mouthfeel was smooth and soft on the tongue at the start, and finished smooth. The spices lasted long on the tongue after swallowing. Very nice drinkability with the lower ABV of 5.9% versus other winter beers.

Named after the town in NJ, I think (my train passed through it on the way to NYC). Deep brown-maroon color, that smelled strongly of nutmeg, cloves and cinammon. This was definitely a winter beer. With a higher ABV that the other offerings, and the addition of all of those spices, this hit the spot. Almost tastes like this beer has mulled cider spices in it.

Dark brown in color with a nice tan head that left some lace. Nice aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger with sweet malt in the backround. Smooth mouthfeel with a light body. Sweet toasty malt flavor with a big time presence of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla bean, and a hint of cherry. Full of flavor and a joy to drink. Sit back and relax with this one on a cold winter's night!

This winter seasonal offering from JJ Bitting's is a spin off of a nutbrown ale with added spices. Nice presentation deep brown color. Light body. Full flavor complimented with cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and vanilla beans. Laced well and finished great! I had three in a row and was able to appreciate all of the flavors and other qualities without any degradation from the first sip of the first to the last sip of the last.
