Pours out inky black. Dark mocha head that receded super quickly. Getting pepper skin, cinnamon, vanilla and bourbon in the nose. Tasting most of those same flavors. Nice lingering spiciness on the back end. A touch on the thin side but overall, this is phenomenal.

The peppers were a nice touch. They provide a little burn at the end.

Bottle 1 of 500. Very impressive beer from the Harvest Moon. It really has great barrel flavor. The adjuncts in this beer add great complexity to the taste. A decent amount of heat from the chilis but the cinnamon, cocao and Vanilla balance it out very well. It is a solid beer.

brand new release, 22oz bottle poured into a tasting tulip
Naturally black as night, hints of brown around the edges. Nice mocha head that reduces to a thin wispy layer fairly quickly. The first standout characteristic of this newly bottled offering is the nose, it's a truly impressive representation of the barrel. Lots of sweet bourbon notes, vanilla, and roasted cocoa. Excellent. The taste almost lives up to the nose, too. Again, the barrel is very noticeable, lots of sweet vanilla, cocoa & bourbon, and it develops a strong fudge flavor as it warms. Finally, the 5-chile blend is very present in the finish, but the spice complements the beer without overpowering it. OP is definitely closer to Mexican Cake than Huna thanks to the chiles. For me the only detraction is that the body is a bit on the thin side. Other than that I was fairly impressed with the beer. Will let my other bottle age a bit to see what happens.
