Pours hazed dark amber with a thin head that becomes a wisp. Some trailing lace slides down the glass.
The smell is of caramel/toffee with some winter spices (ginger, nutmeg, etc.)
The taste is of caramel/toffee, towards chocolate-ish with wintery spices. An underlying hop bitterness and a rich maltiness keeps the spices from being too much, but giving a tasty winter touch.
Full-bodied, and rich, yet smooth and drinkable. Just the right amount of carbonation for the style, IMO.
A nice, well-balanced, winter sipper, that is easy to more than sip!
