I found this on tap @Harvest Moon Brewery in New Brunswick on April 3, 2009. I wasn't told much about the beer and failed to read the blurb on the menu. Online they do not list it under their brews so I imagine this was either a one time batch or a pilot for a future brew. The style is my best guess, the only other scotch lagers I was able to come across through searches fell into this same category.
a - The color was a bit more red than Amber. It was quite clear. Head was minimal and there seemed to be no lacing.
s - Sweet caramel. No hops present from what I could tell. Smelled slightly of alcohol, but I had to ask for the ABV to be sure.
t - Again I got a sweet, caramel flavor. It was pleasant, well rounded and complex. I've not had much scotch but it did seem to have some of it's qualities. Based on the name I assumed the ABV would be pretty respectable and I didn't want to get myself in trouble so I asked. It hid the 6.8% well and was at no point hot or otherwise harsh.
m - Not much to say here, it didn't seem thick or syrupy and complimented the flavor well. Carbonation was low.
d - Went down easy and paired with my French Onion soup well. I probably wouldn't order it with a fish dish but I'm not sure which beer I would. If it wasn't 6.8% I'd suggest it as a session beer.
