On tap at the brewery, served in a shaker pint glass.
Look: Amber brown, with almost no head, but an off-white ring of foam, and adequate lacing.
Nose: Medium roast, toffee, brown sugar.
Attack: Follows the nose somewhat, with the addition of some smoke. Not as sweet a malt flavor as I was expecting. Actually a bit tangy.
Finish: More of the smoke comes through and, if it stopped there it would be fine, but I’m getting more astringency in the aftertaste than I’d like.
Mouthfeel: Medium, sufficient carbonation — maybe even a tad more than needed.
Overall: It’s okay, and fairly drinkable, but not up to this excellent brewery’s standard as reflected in its other fine offerings.
