Still knocking out the old WA reviews here on the last day of January 2020. Brown ale pours brown. Head of brown ale is a lighter color brown 1/2". I love writing appearance parts for red and brown ales. Has some of those mild earthy brown malt and nutty smells, seems to be well within style guidelines in that regard. Didn't get anything in the way of coffee out of it.

Taste was a mild brown ale. That easy going downtown brown smoothness and gateway malt bill. Certainly has more malt heft (and even hops even if still minimally/appropriately done) to it than say a Newcastle. Mild be the word, mild sweetness I mean, mild, mild acidity even. Mild toffee. I dunno man, there is the ol trappings of writing a review for a brown ale, you know the words, bland, boring, pedestrian. But since there are a few browns I really like, I don't get too concerned if I drop a few of those adjectives into this brown ale review. Doesn't do anything bad, but doesn't serve as a benchmark of style either.

12oz bottle served in a can glass. Beer is dark mahogany brown, but clear, with a thin chestnut head. Aroma is not overpowering, but there is a very pronounced aroma of coffee or mocha. Brown ales rarely look this good or smell this good. First sip is nice and malty, but carbonation is overly sharp and fine. Allowing it to swirl around my mouth and warm the palate elicits a hint of caramel. Not sweet like toffee, or even molasses. A good example of the style, and above average overall, but dinged by poor mouthfeel.

This is the 2017 edition from the mixed 12-pack. It pours a clear horse-colored brown with a smatter of coarse foam, but it doesn't last. Flattish with just a little fizz that melts in the mouth. I strive for some evidence of aroma , but not much.

Warm grainy malt is the flavor. Just a touch of sweetness. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. A hint of butter and plenty of warm roasted malt. Mouthfeel doesn't please much but otherwise it's quite drinkable. Even so it's an improvement over the industrial brown brews.

This was consumed many times throughout my living in the PNW.
However for once here in the PNW, I did pour this into a mug: here are my findings.
The appearance was a slight orange to brown color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within a slight foamy all over lacing.
The smell was nutty and had a slight molasses based brown sugary sort of aroma.
The taste took those smells and added a slight floral note to it.
The mouthfeel was mainly smooth and nutty over topping a slight sugary/sweet feel over my tongue and mouth.
Overall, this was a pretty good brown ale I come back to every now and again.

Traded across the country for a six of this, and was pleasantly surprised. It has a slightly reddish tint to the brown pour. There was a distinct nuttiness to the malt, and if I was a homebrewer, I'm sure I could pick it up quickly. It wasn't strong, but it was clear what was inside. Flavor-wise, I was a little disappointed in that I was expecting more of a traditional English brown nuttiness, but instead got a very mild tone with a little bit of a saison-like back end and a very, very slightly hop aftertaste. Overall, it's a solid session beer, but if you're looking for flavor that packs a punch, this isn't it. Good, not great.

Presentation: 12 OZs bottle poured into my 'Magic-Hat' cone pint glass...

Appearance: Thick creamy finger of head lasts most of the way down the glass, the clarity showed a stunning brassy brown hue...GREAT lacing down the glass...

Smell: Nutty toasted malt with hints of citric hop and faint roasted grain tones...Also, some nice hop pressence...

Taste: Lots of fresh toasty malt on the palate, a BIG citric hop jumps out with an ample hit of bitterness. Nice rounded malty and toasted grain finish with some sweet brown sugar and a bit of spicy warmth from the alcohol...

Mouthfeel: At first, smooth and crisp with with a good amount of carbonation in the moderate body...but dies off and gets a bit bland throughout...

Notes: OK brown, although after the first 1/2 of this beer, I got kind of bored...The beer's balance and flavor just sort of gets bland...OK though...Just a bit of a let down after it started off so good, kind of loses it's punch after awhile...Oh well...Chasin' Cheers :~)

A: Pours a reddish brown color, 2 finger width tight bubbly head with nice lacing down the glass
S: Smell is nutty, yeasty as well as some spicy/grassy hop scents
T: Lightly sweet up front. Nice bitter grassy hop aftertaste. There is also some spiciness toward the end...maybe nutmeg?? Was expecting more of a nutty flavor but I didnt get that at all.
M: Light bodied beer, was expecting it to be a little thicker judging by the color... carbonation is a little on the high side but not bad
O: Interesting beer...I kinda dig it. Would get this one again.
