Brief impressions from a 33cl can purchased at a Sale supermarket in Kuopio, Finland. This is the Olvi Oy version contract brewed in Iisalmi, Finland.
Pours a healthy off-white head that sticks round for ~4 minutes. Body is a clear copper of average vibrance. Looks like your typical pale lager, with no stand-out characteristics. Clean, with no visible yeast or sediment.
Aroma emphasizes pale malt as expected, as well as cheap sweet barley and Munich malts. Doesn't suggest a cloying or metallic taste, so it's a notch above most European pale lagers. Munich malt further develops the sweetness, but is tamed by a pinch of grassy (probably Noble) hops, which bring no detectable bitterness. Pretty standard pale lager aromatics. Clean, with no detectable overt yeast or off-notes. Not boozy.
Taste follows the aroma, but the sweetness isn't out of control, and it doesn't have as cheap/artificial a taste as I feared. Sure, I notice notes of malt extract/syrup (rather than genuine grains), but it's not egregious. Mild grassy hopping. Clean, with no esters - indicative of lager yeast. I find no off-notes aside from a kiss of metallic character.
Texture's average. Light-bodied but unrefreshing, with slight overcarbonation and a smooth & wet feel.
Not a gestalt beer, but it's what I expected. An affordable pale lager that'll get you drunk, but not a brew for the discerning drinker. Better than many offerings in the style, but it's not unique or special. Imbalance is only slight.
