On-tap at Oceanside Ale Works
A: The pour is a nice mix of amber and burnt orange with a moderate white head on top.
S: Having had several other OAW beers, I wasn't expecting much here, but the nose is wonderfully hoppy with plenty of pine and grapefruit aromas.
T: Unfortunately the translation of the aromas to the flavor does not quite work. The beer is certainly bitter, but that's about it. There is a bit of bready malt, but it is certainly overshadowed.
M: A medium bodied beer with a crisp and plentiful carbonation. The lingering bitterness is to the point of an off-putting astringency, however.
D: Not as bad as some of the OAW beers, but not as good as the Strong Ale. A passable offering, but there are definitely better IPAs out there.
