On tap at Fifty Seven Degrees. Brewer says this is Bourbon barrel aged. ABV is somewhere between 10 and 13 percent. Apparently this is a new variation on the strong ales they favor for some reason.
Clear reddish brown in the big tulip. Modest head to start, and it dissipates after some sipping. Tangy and sharp on the tongue with an average carbonation. This stuff is so strong, so acidic, so alcohol tasting it is a challenge to drink more than half a glass. The flavor is more like barrel aged sweet tea. Weirdly bitter with a medicinal edge.
There is even a distinctly sourish flavor, like something is going on in the barrels. It also have an acidic aroma which is actually quite pleasant with the boozy smell. Sugary to start without much real malt flavor. Sort of a Hawaiian Punch soda taste, with hops. Put this in a 40 oz and you'd have the new gangsta challenge to choke one down and keep their pants up as they walk back to the crib.
