Amber/red color with off-white head that is not lasting long.

Smells of sweet roasted malt, toffee/caramel some fruit.

Tastes of dark bread, caramel/toffee,a bit roasted, notes of citrus fruit, some bitterness in the finish.

Medium carbonation.

I like this one and would like to try it again.

Opening a Stallhagen's Oktoberfestbier I was geographically disoriented since it tasted and looked like a scottish ale. It poured with a dark, amber color smelling of apples, ginger and tofee. There was almost no foam or lacing. The taste was a bit bitter with licorice and roasted malts. Not much of an Oktoberfest bier. I wonder if the bottle has been mislabelled? In any case, it was OK as a wee heavy, albeit a bit watery.

The colour is amber; the liquid is clear. The finger thick pale beige head sinks down very slowly, leaving some light lacing.

The smell is very malty; lightly roasted sweet notes are balanced by some fruity (apricots, apples) dry bitter flavours.

The taste is quite complex; dry mildly roasted malt, some sweetness, lots of aromatic hops – flavours of apples, apricots, roasted meat, matured cheese and some slowly growing bitterness. The aftertaste got notes of rye bread, bitter herbs and maybe a touch of vanilla.

The carbonation is quite strong; lots of small bubbles. The liquid is a little creamy.

A interesting and well created Vienna Lager. But is it a Märzen/Oktoberfest? Perhaps not... A Wee Heavy? Never!

The color is dark amber. The head is one finger thick, but dies after a while.

The smell is malty with notes of fruit. Nothing particular overwhelming.

The taste is very average; mostly of malt, light fruity, a bit bready, pretty average and not so overwhelming. A standard-lager like unfortunately.

The mouthfeel is slightly better than average, quite filling but not that great.

It's an easy beer too drink, but quite pointless.
