Tasted by a half-pint at the Dark Star, Brighton. Served by a handpump w/o a sparkler.
A: slightly murky amber in colour, coming with a light fluffy head and a rather settled body.
S: mostly grapefruity hops with mildly sweet nectar-ish sweet malts. Maybe this beer was not on form, hence the slight simplicity of aroma; yet the theme is rather clear with abundant American hops on the nose. Not bad.
T: juicy flowery+lychee-ish American hops approach first with a deepening impact of bitter-zesty fruitiness, while underneath this lingering hop-bitterness lies a bed of rather deep biscuity maltiness; a tad dry in the end, and the bitter finish simply refuses to budge.
M&D: the texture is lively, full-bodied w/o feeling heavy; this is apparently a dry-hopped strong ale, a juicy and greatly tasty hop bomb but somehow lacking greater complexity to make it a truly sensational ale. Still, well done!
