Served to me in a pint glass, ink black in color. Thin but creamy head, and a rather strong aroma of roasted and/or black malts.
Tastes of very strong coffee and the bitterness of dark chocolate, almost too much. It tasted a little off. There's also quite a bit of sweetness going on from what I suspect is lactose. There's ALSO quite a bit of viscosity going on from the oatmeal. This stout has almost everything if you're a stout lover, but it felt like a half-hearted effort if you ask me.
All in all a great attempt but not quite "professional grade".

This is G.G. Brewers Oatmeal Stout, served on tap in Glenside, PA. The ale is slightly chilled.
Appearance: The stout is jet black with no hint of any color. There is a bit of head.
Smell: The smell of deep roasted malts hits you up front and soon gives way to a sweet creaminess.
Taste: I confirmed with the Brewmaster my suspicion that this stout contained lactose. That addition gives it a triple threat: roasted maltiness, creamy sweetness and lactose sharpness. All in all, the taste go very well together.
Mouthfeel: The stout's heaviness is lifted by the lactose, giving the beer a very pleasing mouthfeel.
Drinkability: I could easily go through a few of these...
