Poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a mild red/amber semi-transparent color with a small quickly dieing semi-foamy head. Sliding lace.
The aroma had some floral hops with some rye spice then bready notes/caramel malts of sorts.
The flavor maintained a mostly floral rye spiciness throughout the bready caramel malts. Mild aftertaste of rye, caramel and slightly like biscuits.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied, perhaps a touch under. Fine sessionability, nothing distracting from the rye spice. In fact, the rye seems to spread more of a smooth texture along my tongue. Good carbonation. ABV felt right. Nice finish of rye floral to spicy quality.
Overall, as a rye IPA, I'd say it works, I'd have again.

Solid beer n this one even had a drink by of 3/2/16. Didn't taste old at all to me. Light bit of spicyness but nothing close to overpowering. Take a deep breath n you get that pepper smell. Lots of lacing. Has a mild rye finish that doesn't overpower the typical IPA flavor. Crisp pine & caramel after taste / finish. Would buy again bit would make sure to check the best by date (which was on the bottom front of the bottle).

A nice adjunct beer that adds nice spice and mouthfeel. A step above their other IPA offerings.

Bottle from Brewers Haven. Starts out ho-hum, but gets better. Average pour, mild aroma, but taste arrives with a lot of caramel malts and velvety texture. Lots of flavor, mostly on the malt profile, not hoppy at all.

Reddish amber colored body; thick, foamy, white head. Mild spicy aroma infused with some sweet malt grain scent. Light caramel malt base in the flavor department; peppery; spicy tang. Medium body; mild sweetness to the body yet finishes with a definite dry edge.
A very nice rye IPA that delivers balance and complexity in the taste department (and looks damn fine, too). There is an overall gentle malt sweetness that is subtly amped up with some rye zest. Nothing overpowers anything else. A fine example of a well-crafted beer.

LOOKS: Dark amber in appearance. Poured into a Nonic pint glass, left about an inch of khaki head which disappeared fairly quickly. Small amount of bubbles streaming up the glass. Looks like a typical amber ale, except this is definitely filtered. Slight bit of lacing down the glass.
AROMA: Malty caramel sweetness followed by a peppery note, and a bit of a floral twist. Twirl the glass and I get some mild citrus and pine qualities. Smells pretty good.
TASTE: Nice sweet malt right up front, bready, and then I get a nice little bit of that pepper quality from the rye towards the finish. Very slight lasting bitterness.
MOUTHFEEL: Adequate carbonation, not overkill. Dry from start to finish. You want that next sip of this one.
OVERALL: This one is pretty balanced between the rye pepper quality and the malt sweetness. It is slightly more sweet than the SN Rye IPA. Definitely worth trying.

12 oz bottle, best by 1/1/16. Pours slightly hazy copper amber with a medium creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet malts and some cola and rye.
The flavor is sweet malts with some cola and rye and fruits. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, no real hop backbone. It tastes more like an old ale or winter warmer than an IPA.

Poured on tap into pint, minimal head. Looks like a brown ale. Smell, well congested as hell let that slide. Taste is great. Malty, spicy nice hop finish. Will be looking for this when it comes back next year
