12 oz. Bottle
Pours a very nice clean/clear golden amber color, with some pretty nice carbonation, with a nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty. The taste is hoppy, malty. Medium body. Overall, a very tasty brew.

05/12/09- Had on tap at the Wasatch Brew Pub in Park City, UT.
Presentation- 7oz semi-sampler pour via the tap.
Appearance- Amber-brown colored pour. Medium to slighter off white head with light lacing remaining.
Smell- Lightly hopped with a more pine scent than fruity. Some toasted malt as well.
Taste- Definitely not a Barleywine. The brewer explained it was kind of a cross between a pale ale, IPA and brown ale. I can taste all factors, but the pale ale and brown ale come across the most. The malt is a bit cardboard tasting though and the hops are there, but not very assertive.
Mouthfeel- Medium carbonation with a lightly bitter and unflavored aftertaste.
Drinkability- Sub par pale ale/IPA hybrid. Weak tasting, but then again, it is only 3.2abv.

I'm not sure what type of ale this is -- it tasted like a [weak] strong ale or barleywine instead of a red or brown.
A: Translucent rum color with half an inch of foamy head, which recedes quickly into a clump of film and a ring around the drink. Speckles of lacing down the glass.
S: Caramel malt was the only aroma I could easily detect, and it was weak at that. There seemed to be a smaller element of pine hops, but again, just the mildest hint. Not aromatic at all.
T: A bland and mild blend of caramel sweetness and light pine hop bitterness. Mostly watery. I really want to like this but it drinks like a very tasteless lager.
M: Light-bodied, medium carbonation.
D: I'm 3-for-3 on disappointing beers at Wasatch... Called it quits after this one.

Had this beer at Wasatch Brew Pub in Park City served in a 20 oz British style pub mug. Color was a very dark amber, almost looked like a brown ale. Could have been the dark lighting. Smell was malty, with nice biscuit notes. The taste was good. Very mild and malty. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but it tasted a lot like a brown ale. Mouthfeel was mild. Overall not a bad beer, but a little milder than I usually prefer. BTW my wife thought it was great and the beer did go very well with the fish and chips I ordered.

Thanks to BroJohn for bring this beer out to Japan.
a - Dark red amber transparent body.
s - nice "amber ale" aroma. Slightly over toasted baget aroma.
t - Simple, but firm earthy malt flavor. Surprisingly restrained bitterness.
m - Thin watery mouthfeel. Restrained carbonation.
d - This was unimpressive. If it were marketed as an "American Mild" instead of an amber or superior ale, I might have rated it higher.

The head is big, dense, thick and pocked. Tan. Beer is a deep red, ruby-copper, clear, nice. Sugar, piney hops and some almost chocolatey malt in the nose. Bitter fruit up front, some sour malt through the watery middle. Bitter, roasted nuts and bitter fruit in the end. Wow. This is really surprisingly not sweet. Needs more malt for sure. Maybe it's due to the low alcohol restrictions. Nice try, and a little better with temp, but really doesn't do it for me.

Dark red-copper with a nice light tan head. Not much going on in the nose. Some--I'm reaching here--toffeeish loaf malt, and faint metallic hops. Luckily this ale has some taste. Modest malt presence with light caramel notes. Body is a little thin. Piney hops come in and provide some moderate bitterness/balance. Pretty mild overall, and works as a session ale that is light on the palate.

Medium brown color, medium head. Aroma is malty and sweet. A medium bodied ale. Malty and slightly sweet, mild hops, slightly spicy. Mild taste, lots of flavor. Good balance. Smooth. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly malty.

Presentation: 12oz brown twist-off bottle. No freshness date.
Appearance: Dark copper in colour with a foamy, clumpy off-white head. It sticks to the glass a bit and retains.
Smell: Citrus hops in the nose.
Taste: A smooth & creamy beer that runs straight into a quick, sharp, salty citrus rind bite. Body is thin, kind of watery with mineral flavours. The beer then opens up with a crisp, dryness and huge grain tannin flavour. Absolutely no malt sweetness. Other malt flavours include earth and light bready flavours. Finish is dry with lots of left over semi-harsh tannins and a raw/bitty feel on the palate.
Notes: Not overly impressed by this brew. Thin, off balance and way too many tannins.
