Pours a dark brown with a thick mocha head that has some staying power. Decent lacing. Aroma is dark roasted malts, chocolate and a hint of bourbon. Flavor is a little more bourbon forward, but otherwise follows the nose. Feel is thin and watery. Overall a pleasant porter.

Bourbon Barrel-Aged Polygamy Porter pours a black color, with a very small, barley lacing head. Big bourbon aroma, lots of barrel. Flavor is rich, lots of bourbon and barrel, with a good malty backbone, very drinkable too. Just a little weak for a feel and body. Overall, a very nice drinkable barrel aged porter, great bourbon flavor.

Jet black with a quickly diminishing tan froth. Caramel, black cherry and pine in the aroma. Taste involves roasted nuts, currants, faint milk chocolate and a hint of bitterness. Medium in body and has the qualities of a big old porter but doesn't seem like the BA added much. Was hoping for more, but not completely disappointing in this one as it still has some merits. Still a fan of Wasatch but gonna look for others in their lineup.

Pours an effervescent & ruddy mahogany with one finger of mocha colored head. Respectable head retetion & lacing
S: Dark fruit, vanilla, faint booze notes. Bourbon & raisins buld as it warms
T: Follows the nose, barrel dryness as well, along with some roastyness & a little leafy hops up front. Nice Bourbon & caramel notes once warm along with some chocolate & dryness, little black cherry & leafy hops. Finishes with Bourbon barrel, a little dark chocolate, dark cherry & vanilla, plus some leafy hops
MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, warming
Very good take on the style. Will buy more if I come across, too drinkable, handle with caution!

12 oz can dated best by 01/05/19 poured into Thulsa Doom.
Chocolatey brown edging amidst a dark chocolate body and a thin ring of wispy beige head.
Lovely bourbon barrel aromas invade the nose, just tons of generic (and that's okay) sappy, sweet, boozy bourbon barrel. Slight chocolate and roasted notes.
Flavor comes up a bit empty for me. Some horehound/light molasses step forward with cola flavors and some faint peppermint and cocoa, followed by bourbon sap/oak to round out the profile a bit. The heat is dialed up a notch and the aftertaste is quite a bit better than the beer itself. Kind of like a bourbon soaked coffee bean.
Feel is again, empty. Typical Polygamy profile, really unimpressive and thinner than a gnat's wing. Slight heat and dryness on the finish.
Overall, I will never like Polygamy Porter. I've tried it in three forms, and it is just a shitty beer. I can honestly say I've acquainted myself with the beer and all it can be, and it's nothing I can recommend. A bourbon barrel beer should be much more complex and enjoyable than this.

Wowza, just looking at the score for this beer, I already know I'm gonna have a big positive deviation on this one.
Pours a middle of the road brown without delving into anywhere near sludge territory. The aroma is a nice almost year long contribution of bourbon barrel up into a solid dose of brown and roasted malt. Total Goldilocks amount, not to little, not too much.
Mild unsweetened chocolate presence. I really like that this is a tried and true porter, not a junked up sludge monster. Barrel aging has a lot of good examples with non stouts, but man, the porter isn't getting its due. You get light heft but a solid amount of bourbon without any alcohol burn or heat. I don't know what the price on these is given that pops brought one out, but I have to believe they are affordable like all their other beers. Carbonation lower providing more smoothness and nuance to flow.
A welcome addition to the beer world.
